Bio

On November 22, 2001, I joined the dedicated faculty in the department of pharmacy practice as a visiting Assistant professor. One year later, I continued my academic career as a tenure-earning rank. Under the caring and nurturing milieu at the college, I grew academically and professionally into a seasoned educator and received tenure in 2009. Subsequently, I assumed administrative responsibilities at the South Florida Pharmacy Practice Center. As a Division Director, I value and practice shared governance. I provide leadership for all COPPS-sanctioned academics, including experiential and post-graduate in Pharmacy Practice Residency, Research, and Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowships. My teaching philosophy reflects my interest in collaborative authorship. Instead of the "full frontal teaching" method of large lectures of autocratic seminars, I prefer student-centered teaching that encourages learning by both students and teachers. I favor classroom dynamics that permit dialogue and foster a degree of student input to develop their own learning interests and think critically to sustain lifelong learning. I will continue to work with faculty and administration to accomplish the Dean’s vision for the College.
