Past SGA Involvement
Kennedy's student leadership journey began when she was elected Freshman Senator during the 53rd Student Senate, where she was honored as Freshman Senator of the Year and served as Chairwoman of the Freshman Caucus. She continued her service as a Sophomore Senator in the 54th Student Senate. Throughout her tenure, Kennedy authored and passed legislation focused on diversity, mental health, and institutional reform, including a policy that grants students two excused mental health days per semester. As Chairwoman of the Election Reform Committee, she led efforts to strengthen transparency and voter engagement on campus. She also previously served as Student Government Association Vice President as part of a historic all-female duo.
Goals for the Semester
The Office of the President is focused on two signature priorities for this Fall: hosting a successful Gubernatorial Forum that brings candidates directly to Rattler Nation, and registering 1,000 FAMU students to vote. From event logistics to a coordinated voter registration push around Homecoming and SGA Week , the President's Office is working to make sure every student has the information and opportunity to make their voice heard this election season.

Caitlin Smith

Past SGA Involvement
Caitlin has served in several capacities, including Director of the Department of Student Welfare and Chief of Staff. Each role gave her a different perspective on student government, from addressing student needs to supporting the operations of the Executive Branch. Now serving as Vice President, Caitlin seeks to build upon those experiences by fostering collaboration, strengthening student engagement, and helping turn student concerns into meaningful action.
Goals for the Semester
The Office of the Vice President is driving the administration's long-term vision forward by advancing the M.A.F.I.A. Platform Mobilize, Academic Excellence, Foster Unity, Invest, and Activate Civic Engagement across all fourteen Executive Branch departments, with a goal of completing more than half of our platform commitments by the end of the semester. The Vice President's Office is also ensuring every Cabinet department is fully confirmed, staffed, and ready with a clear plan of action for the semester ahead, and is chairing the Homecoming Committee as it builds toward Homecoming and SGA Week.

Harmony Person

Past SGA Involvement
Harmony is currently serving as the 56th Senate President of the Florida A&M University Student Government Association, Harmony leads with the belief that true leadership is measured not by titles, but by the lives it impacts. Her journey in student government began as a Freshman Senator and has since included serving as Judicial and Rules Committee Chairwoman and Senate President Pro Tempore. Through each role, she has remained committed to advocating for students, fostering transparency, and creating meaningful change across campus.
Goals for the Semester
The Office of Senate President is focused on strengthening the Senate from the inside out and making its work visible to the student body it serves. That means holding senators to clear standards for attendance, participation, and professionalism; giving students clearer updates on Senate business and easier ways to bring their concerns to their representatives; and building on relationships with other HBCU student governments to bring new ideas and partnerships back to FAMU.

Jabari Mackey
Senate President Pro-Tempore 2026-27

Past SGA Involvement
Jabari's leadership journey began when he was elected Junior Class Senator during the 55th Student Senate. Since then, he has served as Vice Chair of the Judicial and Rules Committee, where he was recognized as Chair of the Month for his leadership and commitment to student service. As Senate President Pro Tempore, he led the university's Constitutional Convention, overseeing the first comprehensive revision of the Student Government Association Constitution in several years to strengthen the legislative branch and better serve future generations of Rattlers.
Goals for the Semester
The Office of Senate President Pro Tempore is leading the Senate's preparation for two of its biggest responsibilities: the spring budget process and student-centered legislation. That includes using the final weeks of fall to walk senators through the budget process, prior allocations, and what's expected of them before spring deliberations begin, and pushing senators to turn real student concerns into legislation then following that legislation through to make sure it doesn't stop at the Senate floor.

Tylar Contee

Past SGA Involvement
Tylar's journey within the Student Government Association began as a Judicial Secretary before she later served as a Defense Counselor. Through those experiences, she gained a deep appreciation for the values of integrity, fairness, and accountability while learning firsthand the responsibility that comes with serving the student body. Driven by a desire to help other students find their place within SGA, she founded the Judicial Leadership Council, a mentorship program that equips aspiring Judicial Branch members with leadership development, professional skills, and opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.
Goals for the Upcoming Year
The Office of Chief Justice hopes to build upon the strong foundation of the Judicial Branch by leading with integrity, innovation, and purpose, expanding mentorship opportunities and ensuring the branch reflects the honor and excellence of the Student Government Association. Above all, she hopes to leave every student she encounters feeling encouraged, empowered, and inspired to lead through service.

Past SGA Involvement
I served as Associate Justice for the Judicial Branch for the past year, sitting in on every session and helping ensure that student government upholds the fairness and integrity outlined in the Student Body Constitution. That year gave me an up-close look at what accountability looks like in practice, and it built the foundation I'm now building on as I step into branch leadership.
Goals for the upcoming year
The Office of the Associate Chief Justice vision for the Judicial Branch is rooted in education and empowerment. She believes students deserve to understand the governing documents that protect them and to walk away from FAMU with tools they can carry well beyond graduation. Alongside Chief Justice Tylar Contee, she is working to increase student engagement and voter turnout, strengthen the branch's presence on campus and at tri-branch meetings, and make the Judicial Branch a visible, trusted resource for the student body.
