About Me


Doug Ott in an Instructor of Marketing where he has developed strong partnerships with industry which including forming the first HBCU partnership with Amazon and with the US Postal Service's Direct Effect Marketing Program. He began his career working for three Fortune 500 companies, and has served in various marketing and communication roles for the State of Florida. Private sector companies included sales positions with Fortune 500 companies in the pharmaceutical and consumer goods industry, along with positions in the services and TV/broadcast industry. Experience included launching “Diflucan” for Pfizer, "Lever 2000" soap for Unilever and creating "Double Dollar Deals" for a local CBS affiliate. In the public sector he served the State of Florida in many role in areas of marketing, communication and emergency management positions. HIs expertise during his career has been in sales, business development, advertising, teaching, and forming strong partnerships with industry. He also enjoys music playing his cello at church and special occasions, along with spending time with recreation activities with family.

Academic Accomplishments


  • 2022 US Postal Service showcased their Direct Effect education partnership with my Advertising classes by featuring an in-class video on their website, presented at the USPS Annual Postal Forum in Phoenix.
  • Appointed to the US Postal Service – Direct Effect Advisory Board 2022-23.
  • Fall 2021, Amazon Advertising partnered with my Advertising classes to form their first HBCU partnership.
