About Me

I am a microbial ecologist by training, receiving my Ph.D. from Scripps Institution of Oceanography. My research interests lies in ocean and human health in a time of change. While I don't teach any formal lecture or laboratory courses now, I mentor both undergraduate and graduate students in research.

However, the majority of my time is spent on administrative roles. I serve as an Associate Dean for the College of Science and Technology for Research and Graduate Studies, the Director for the NAS FAMU Gulf Scholars Program, and as the Center Director for the NOAA Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystems led by FAMU. All of these roles allow me to engage and train the next generation of problem solvers.
