About Me


Dr. Felecia Dix-Richardson is an Associate Professor. Dr. Dix-Richardson has conducted research in the following areas: corrections (Islamic inmates and incarcerated women/mothers); juvenile justice; racial disparity and the Florida criminal justice system; students' perceptions and experiences of note-taking; sexual harassment; resultant effects of adverse childhood experiences; suicide resilience; computer forensics curriculum; and Anti-blackness and Academia - Systems failure for black children. Dr. Dix-Richardson has served as a corrections subject matter expert for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and has been a participant in the Annie E. Casey – Extending the Bench Program. Through her work with the Annie E. Casey foundation, she has provided Results Based Accountability training workshops in Hillsborough County, Florida and Leon County, Florida.

Dr. Dix-Richardson is active in the Tallahassee community. She serves as the liaison for Bond Elementary School and Florida A&M University’s Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice. Dr. Dix-Richardson has also previously served as a member of the advisory council for the College Reach-Out Program “CROP” (Florida Department of Education), Leon County Juvenile Detention Center Facility Advisory Board, and as a member of the board of directors for AMI Kids-Tallahassee and PACE Center for Girls-Leon County. Dr. Dix-Richardson is the faculty advisor for the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice - FAMU Student Chapter, Lambda Alpha Epsilon – Alpha Mu Upsilon Chapter, and the co-advisor for the Sociology and Criminal Justice Club.

Academic Accomplishments


  • Co-authored a book chapter, “Systems Failure: Black Children Left Behind”, in Anti-Blackness: White Privilege, Allyship, and Psychology, which was published by Oxford University Press in 2024.

  • Served as a corrections subject matter expert from 2023-2024 for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) where Dr. Dix-Richardson provided her expertise in its revision of the Florida Basic Recruit Training Program: Corrections, Volume 1.

  • Co-authored a book chapter, “Students Perceptions and Experiences of Note Taking”, in Experiences and Research on Enhanced Professional Development Through Faculty Learning Communities which was published by IGI Global in 2022.

  • Served as an Islamic research consultant for Part 2 Pictures for an aired episode of CNN’s “This is Life with Lisa Ling: Muslims in America.

  • Conducted workshops for the Annie E. Casey – Extending the Bench Program (i.e., “Turning the Curve: Finding the Paradigm Shift on Sexual Harassment” and “Florida HBCU Expanding the Bench Results Based Accountability (RBA) Training for Human Service Providers”).

  • Co-authored “Florida HBCUs address Racial Disparities in the Criminal Justice System using RBA.” Race and Justice: An International Journal. Vol. 9(1) 22-45.

  • Co-Presented “The Constitution of Sexual Harassment: An Exploration” at the Southwestern Social Science Association 2021 – Centennial Annual Meeting - New Orleans, Louisiana - Virtual Presentation
