Administrative Duties
Eugene Matthews Ph.D., is a native of Jacksonville Florida. In 1990, He began his career in Corporate America working for the Sprint Corporation. In 1999, he began a career in Education. teaching secondary instruction with an emphasis in Special Education for the Duval County Schools in Jacksonville, Florida. He also taught in the Fulton County schools in Atlanta Georgia before beginning his career in higher education. He currently serves as the Associate Director of Student Support Services, Division of Health Sciences here at Florida A&M University. Dr. Matthews began his Higher Education career as an Academic Advisor here at the University His educational background is in Curriculum and Instruction as well as Educational Technology. He has extensive research experience in areas of College Curriculum, Degree Auditing as well as Excess Credit Hours. Dr. Matthews has served on various committees here at the university which has provided him a unique vantage point to understand and examine best practices in higher education. Dr. Matthews earned his Bachelors of Business Administration degree from Edward Waters College (Jacksonville, FL), a Masters’ of Arts in Teaching from Webster University (St. Louis MO), second Masters’ of Education in Technology Education from Florida A&M University (Tallahassee, FL), and his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership here at Florida A&M University.
