Florida A&M University is scheduled to resume normal operations on Monday, November 14 following the closure due to Tropical Storm Nicole and the Veterans Day holiday.

In anticipation of inclement weather associated with Tropical Storm Nicole, Florida A&M University announced classes on the main Tallahassee campus and surrounding sites are canceled and the University is closed on Thursday, except for essential employees. Evening classes will be held on Wednesday. FAMU DRS is also closed Thursday.
The FAMU COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing site will be closed on Thursday and resume operations on Friday.
Residence halls, the Residence Dining Hall (Top Café’) and The Hub will remain open Thursday. On Friday, the Top Café’ will be open while the The Hub and all retail locations are closed (See below for more details).
The College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Institute of Public Health, Pharmacy Practice Center (Davie, Jacksonville, Tampa) offices will be closed on Thursday. Student pharmacists at Jacksonville and Orlando will be excused from rotations on Thursday. Student pharmacists at all other sites are to report to their respective sites as directed by their preceptor. The College of Law in Orlando is closed Wednesday and Thursday.
The University will resume normal operations on Monday, November 14.

Meanwhile, employees are removing banners, tents and other temporary structures ahead of the weather system’s strong winds.

Florida A&M University (FAMU) is actively monitoring the path of Tropical Storm Nicole. As a result of the storm’s predicted path northward, the College of Law has announced the cancelation of classes Wednesday and Thursday. No classes were scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11 in honor of the Veterans Day holiday.
The College of Law Building, including the Library, will close at 9:30 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) Nov. 8. The law school is expected to resume normal operations on Monday, November 14.
The College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Institute of Public Health, South Florida Pharmacy Practice Center (Davie) office will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Student pharmacists at all practice centers with the exception of Orlando are to report to their respective sites as directed by their preceptor. Orlando student pharmacists will be excused on Thursday.

Tropical Storm Nicole is continuing to strengthen and now has maximum sustained winds of 65 mph. Nicole should make landfall late Wednesday night as a hurricane in east Central Florida, north of Port St. Lucie County. The system has a large wind field and breezy conditions have already begun and tropical storm-force winds could arrive in the Big Bend region as early as Thursday morning. The Tallahassee region should expect to see some impacts from Nicole through Thurday afternoon. As the storm system proceeds north through Georgia, weather conditions should improve on Friday.

Florida A&M University’s Tallahassee campus and satellite sites, except the College
of Law, will resume normal operations on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022. As a result of the
disruption in the Orlando area caused by Hurricane Ian, the College of Law will re-open
for normal operations and the resumption of classes on Tuesday, Oct.4.
*FAMU will celebrate the 135th anniversary of its founding at 10:10 a.m. Monday with a wreathing laying ceremony at the Eternal Flame.
*The FAMU COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination site will resume operations on Monday October 3. The new hours of operation will be Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Florida A&M University Emergency Management Committee continues to meet and provide updates ahead of the approaching tropical weather system.
Due to the easterly track of Hurricane Ian, the University will not open an on-campus shelter in Tallahassee.
Additionally, Residence Dining Hall (Top Café) and The Hub will remain open for normal hours on Wednesday and operate on a weekend schedule on Thursday and Friday.

Due to Hurricane Ian, Florida A&M University has canceled classes at the Tallahassee
campus from Tuesday, Sept. 27 through Friday, Sept. 30. Campus operations will be
open on Tuesday and Wednesday but closed on Thursday and Friday. The Quincy facility
and the Viticulture Center will follow the Tallahassee campus schedule.
Classes are also canceled Tuesday through Friday at the Durell Peaden Jr. Rural Pharmacy
Education Center in Crestview. The Crestview campus is closed for operations Thursday
and Friday.
At the College of Law in Orlando, classes are canceled Wednesday through Friday. Operations
are closed Wednesday and Thursday and resume on Friday.
The College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Central Florida Pharmacy Practice
Tampa/Orlando sites will be closed Tuesday through Friday. All student pharmacy practice
rotations are excused during the closure.
Brooksville Agricultural and Environmental Research Station (BAERS) will also close
Tuesday through Friday.
Plans for the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Jacksonville campus
are to be announced. The South Florida Pharmacy Practice Center in Davie will continue
with normal operations.
Due to inclement weather, Parent and Family Weekend has been rescheduled to November
4-6, 2022. All registered participants may contact the Office of Student Activities

The University urges students to shelter in place and avoid hazardous road conditions.
