Peer Mentor Program

Welcome First Year Rattlers!

The FYE Peer Mentor Program is excited to support you during your first year at Florida A&M University. As peer mentors, our mission is to welcome all new students and their families into the intellectual, cultural, and social fabric of Florida A&M University. To be a catalyst for a successful first-year experience that stimulates intellectual growth, social responsibility, personal wellness, and career development.

Why Mentorship?

At the Office of Freshmen Studies, we believe mentorship significantly impacts the successful transition of a first-year student from high school to college. We recognize that supporting first-year students with second-year or higher academic classes can help them navigate through the opportunities as well as the challenges that are common when
going through college.

The FYE Peer Mentor Program supports first-year students by pairing each student with
a second-year, or more senior student enrolled in SLS courses. First-year students meet with the mentor several times throughout the semester. They will be connected to resources to support them with career development, personal wellness, social and academic adjustment, and financial literacy.
